What is Omega Centre?
Omega Centre is a multi-purpose building specialising in media, IT and skills training. Having been recently refurbished through a £400,000 investment project, the Centre’s grand Victorian exterior now belies the very latest in 21st Century facilities.
In the past year, the Centre has established itself as a thriving facility that meets the requirements of a broad range of corporate clients and training providers. Omega Centre is located in the very heart of the south coast city of Portsmouth. With excellent links by road from the M27 and A3 and only a few minutes’ walk from both Portsmouth & Southsea and Fratton train stations, Omega Centre is well-placed to serve local, regional or national organisations of any size. What can you offer my business?
In addition to a variety of room hire options (see opposite page), Omega Centre runs a diverse programme of courses, events and activities. From employability-focussed training to creative arts and media workshops, we are always keen to work with employers to develop programmes that improve the performance and fulfil the potential of their employees.
We believe that professional development need not be confined to classroom-based learning. For example, teamwork can be developed through a digital animation course, public speaking confidence can be achieved through drama and performing arts and productivity can be increased by teaching staff how to relax with Tai Chi instruction. We can provide courses at Omega Centre, a client’s premises or a mixture of both.
Training from Omega Centre is guaranteed to the highest standards. All tutors are registered members of the Institute for Learning and are committed to continuing professional development.

Corporate Sponsorship
In 2008, the Workers’ Educational Association (WEA) took on the running of the Omega Centre and undertook a major refurbishment project. The Centre’s transformation from Victorian schoolhouse to 21st Century training facility was largely made possible thanks to the Jeffery-Machin Foundation (JMF). The JMF is the legacy of Canon Ivor Jeffery-Machin and his wife, Brenda Jeffery-Machin, who were both passionate believers in the value of lifelong learning and the work of the WEA.
Omega Centre is an extension of the WEA’s commitment to enable adults of all ages and backgrounds – particularly those who have previously missed out on education – to realise their full potential through learning. The WEA is one of the UK’s biggest charities, running over 10,000 courses each year, providing learning for more than 110,000 adults and operating at local, regional and national levels.
